My approach to teaching sociology has always been oriented towards learning outcomes that extend beyond the classroom -- focused on teaching students mechanisms and processes that they can use. I teach what hooks argues teaching can be - “an experience that enriches life in its entirety.”

The whole course was beneficial to me as a citizen of the US going through what it's going through now, the discussions and questions were all very good and kept focus well, there were lots of connections over many areas and disciplines so I could connect what we learned to a lot of other stuff

Our in class discussions were easily the best part of the class– we were able to engage with the readings while also opening ourselves up to new ideas/interpretations. Hearing other people's contributions greatly impacted, if not my personal view on a certain topic, the scope of possibilities regarding it. Interactions felt very fruitful and I truly feel that I have left this class with a greater understanding of social theory, as well as how it applies in the "real" world.
